Feb 25, 2003 Wireless LAN Products Testing Report

Agent ?AV Electronics, British Columbia

We tested the SL-2511BG Plus Outdoor Router Bridge with a SL-2511CD Plus PCMCIA card in a standard laptop over a 10 acre greenhouse using the SAG 2406 (6dbi gain antenna). The system performed perfectly with only signal degradation down to 2 Mps in the two far corners of the greenhouse. We had the Wireless bridge installed in the middle on one side of the building, (antenna radiating through the house not overhead) with the entire 10 acre area square shaped.

This product fills a niche where all the other WLAN just doesn’t have the range to cover large areas or do point to point applications. Combined with the different antennas that can be installed it seems to be very versatile. It may cost significantly more per unit than standard WLAN equipment but you only have to one bridge/access point/ router in most locations as opposed to 2 or more.
